Music is scientifically proven to have a powerful effect on the brain.

Recent research shows that music can help in many aspects of the mind, including pain reduction, stress relief, memory, and brain injuries.

In the book The Power of Music, Elena Mannes says, “Scientists have found that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function.” (Naponen, 2018)

Music-induced states of altered consciousness take the benefits of music a step further. Historically human beings have been altering their states of consciousness to promote physical and mental healing, treat substance dependence, and in spiritual and palliative care. People who are in rehab use what’s called ‘binaural beats’ because some of the frequencies can give the brain the same sensation that a drug would. It doesn’t harm the brain; in fact, it does quite the opposite good for it (Napoten, 2018).

Our brains automatically create an imaginary tone when introduced to two different frequencies at the same time. When you listen to specific forms of music, it can put you in a meditative state, you can get a better night’s sleep, and you’re able to concentrate very effectively. It can even have healing capabilities, without taking a drug or medication, your body will calm your body down. (Albridge, 2016)

She uses specific tones that can change your state of mind; she has it down to a science; her internationally curated perfectly blended playlists are a testament to that. The music guides participants by including polyrhythmic music, monotonous drumming, Western pop, and Arab musical schemata, complemented by theoretical and clinical approaches to music therapy applications (Napoten, 2018).

1. We are all more lucky than we realize. Our desires for life are quite similar. Over 130k people following me on Tiktok says it all, right there!

2. When something makes me feel good I do it more.

3. It’s okay to admit that there is more than one truth, and others may not agree. When there is sunshine, there’s going to be some shade!

4. I spend way too much time ruminating on solutions instead of just creating.

5. A self-care routine doesn’t need to start at 5am to set you up for success

6. If I try to be like someone else, so everyone likes me, I miss the gift of being myself.

Our minds build an illusionary world rather than perceiving the endless detail happening in nature through our bodies. 

I like the idea of consciousness acting as an integrator, especially when it involves non-ordinary states due to Breathwork or Psychedelics. 

Not everyone has access to or interest in psychedelics. That’s perfectly fine. 

Breathwork can be a powerful tool to get you there as well.

The non-ordinary states allow our mind metaphorically to jump the Default Mode Network to link with the generation of the self (in its many guises) and clarifies the experience of ‘flow.’

In other words… getting fucked up is an excellent way to UnFuck yourself. 

Keep being brave, sharing and integrating.

Remember, everyone’s journey looks different. And there are so many things to consider, including :

  • Where are you starting?
  • Where have you come from?
  • What are your goals?

There is no one way to BE BRAVE!
